Women who changed the world

The purpose of the event was to introduce the most famous women, women who changed the world.
Access students choose the most famous women, search information from the Internet and from the library. they make PowerPoint presentations. There are 25 students and so there were 25 presentations. they made presentations about:Anne Frank, Princess Diana, Cleopatra VII, Marie Curie, Tamar Mepe, Mather Teresa and so on. Students made word banks on the flip charts around the walls. After presentations, presenters were asking questions to the students.






Black History Month

   On 10th February Access Program hosted guest speaker from the American Embassy - Public Affairs Press Attache Jeremy Richard. He made a presentation about the African American History Month. Access students found out that Black History Month celebrates the heritage of African-Americans and their contribution to U.S society.Mr. Jeremy showed the video of the famous speech of Martin Luther King ' I Have a Dream'.
In the end Lika Gumberidze informed access students about the existing exchanged programs in the USA.

ST Valentine's Day

The main purpose of the event was to raise the awareness of the St.Valentine's day and its celebration in the USA. The following activities were done:
1. The students were given the quiz to find out what background knowledge they had about this holiday
2. Reading activity about St.Valentine was done,which was followed by true and false sentences and comprehensive questions.
3. Students made analogies and matching activities connected to the topic.
4. 4 students made a power point presentation about the history and the celebration of St.Valentines's day.
5. Students made St. Valentine's cards and distributed them in the streets of Gori.

The day of Amerigo Vespucci

The purpose of the event was to introduce one of the most famous person Amerigo Vespucci.
1) Two students made Power Point Presentation about Amerigo Vespucci.
2) Access students were divided into 4 groups , Students were given the the papers with the topics:Job, Education, Early life, Voyage and their task was to write information on it while listening the presentation.
3) After presentation they changed the papers and the other groups added some informations (Silent discussion).
4) The game ' Scavenger Hunt' was played in groups to check what the students remembered from the presentation. We had the winner group.
5) Our guests made presentation about their country , Czechoslovakia (education, culture, traditions, teenager's life, government).
6) Access students were asking questions.
