Thanksgiving Day

  The main purpose of the event was to increase the awareness of the Thanksgiving day  celebration.

1. A group of  four students made a power point presentation. Then they asked questions to find our what the rest of the students remembered.
2. Students in pairs made cloze and  matching exercise.
3. Students in groups were given the paper to make a story according to the PowerPoint presentation- ‘The story of Thanksgiving  picture story’  to check what the students remembered from the presentation. And they draw Thanksgiving  Day pictures picture.
4. Students sang the song ' What are you thankful for Genki English’ -  Karaoke.
5.Students wrote ‘ We are thankful for…’ on the leafs and stick them on the Thanksgiving Tree.

Pioneers

  The purpose of the event was to introduce one of the most famous and the longest overland Oregon train in North America.
1. Lead-in. Students in groups were given new vocabulary to match with English definitions through the help of the example sentences.
2. We made Power Point Presentation about  American Pioneers.
3. Students were given the map of the USA and their task was to draw travel line on it.
4.The game ' Scavenger Hunt' was played in groups to check what the students remembered from the presentation.
5. Students in groups were given the colored paper to make a cup and a ball for the game.(  'cup & ball game'was one of the games that the children played during the Oregon trail.)Competition was held between groups in throwing the ball into the cup.
6. Karaoke. Students sang the song ' Oh my darling Clementine'

The history of the most famous sights of the USA

   The aim of the activity was to increase the awareness of the history of the White House, The Capitol, The Statue of Liberty and the Smithsonian museum.
1. Access students were divided into 4 groups and they were given the task to search the information about the 4 sights of the USA for the power point presentation.
2. Groups made presentations about the history of one of the sights of the USA.
3. Students were given short descriptive texts about the famous sights and they had to guess what the sight was.
4. Speaking and miming activity was done to encourage the students to talk./ Two students had to think of a dialogue about the topic 'sights of the USA' and another two students on the backs had to mime their conversation./
5. The activity ' Numbered heads together' was done to check what the students remembered from each others presentations.
