Summer School –  June 29  - July 5, 2017- Students were divided into two (or more – up to the teachers to decide) equal groups. The  groups are assigned to develop a group identity through giving a name to their group, inventing the dance, creating their motto, logo and other attributes. They had Team building activity. 


Ss made  a group picture-the picture is divided into parts, made big copies of each parts and put together. They had lots of different kind of activities during these 5 days: Group activity ‘ Silent cards shuffle’ to encourage cooperation between groups, Activity 'Picture Story', teacher shows pictures and the students write the suitable sentences individually then they check their writing with pairs according to the rubric. Finally they read their variant.  The projects ‘ The role of social media’ and ‘ The States of America’ Two main groups were divided into subgroups and given some American states to find information about and made a poster.  



The activities ‘ Circle Writing’,  ‘ Information transfer’ and Group  activity 'Contradict me' ( cards with questions and answers, one of the members of the group asks and the student who answers quickly gets the card, the winner of the group is the person who receives the most cards). The third day was about democracy. It was Introduction of the topic: Ss wrote “Democracy is ...”, then watched Video about ideas of democracy and read Quotes about democracy. Teachers made Presentation of the government of the USA and activity “Numbered heads together”. We had guest speakers From the US Embassy Dwight Nystrom- Head of Political and Economic Section, Kevin Hirschi- English Language Fellow, Lika Gumberidze- English Language program coordinator.  



After that we had the Introduction of the famous children’s activist Malala. Ss fill the KWL chart and watched the Video about this activist. They had Running dictation about Malala. And the song about democracy.



 Fourth day it was Excursion to ‘ Borjomi’. Students take pictures, make notes in order to write articles later for the newspaper. They had Olympic- Toilet Paper Bridal Dress Game: dressing their “bride” in their best toilet paper gown design. Other Outdoor activities , board games and the activity ‘ Treasure Hunt’. Students wrote articles for the newspaper about ‘ Borjomi’ and about their impressions. 




And they made a final version of their newspaper. Groups made presentations of their newspapers. Ss played the game ‘Mystery box’ and They had Talent Show. It took place and Singing competition between two  groups. At the end of each day we had free writing and Wrap-up of the day. Summer school finished with the Celebration dinner.

Day 1

10:00 – 10:15 – Participants are greeted and presented the schedule of the day.

11:15 – 11: 30  Presentations of the chosen groups

11:30 – 11: 45 – Break

13:30 – 14:00 – Lunch



14:00 – 14:30 – Activity 'Picture Story', teacher shows pictures and the students write the suitable sentences individually then they check their writing with pairs according to the rubric. Finally they read their variant. 

14:30 – 15:00 – English Grammar through Games– “ I wish I could…” Teacher asks students to write down a wish on a sheet of paper. Students write, fold them and put them in the hat. Each student picks the folded papers, reads and guesses whose wish it is.

15:00 – 15:15 – Break

15:15 – 16: 45 – The project ‘ The role of social media’

16:45 – 17:00 – Wrap-up of the day

Day 2

10:00 – 10:15 - Participants are greeted and presented the schedule of the day.

       11:45- 12:15 -    Groups make presentations of their posters.

12:15 – 12:45 – Grammar through games: Running Dictation

 12: 45 – 13: 30 Indoor Olympics
                          Variation on Egg Drop ( including the explaining of rules)
                     
13:30 – 14:00 – Lunch

15:30 – 16:00 – Game ‘ Where is my pen?’

16:00 – 16:40 – The activity ‘ Information transfer’  / Students read some informative text. After that they take information from it and put it in a different format. This can be a picture, a map, a table or a timeline.

16: 40 – 16:50 – Free writing. / Students are given time limit and they write as much as they can about their impressions of the day.

16:50 – 17:00 – Wrap-up of the day

Day 3

10:00 – 10:15 - Participants are greeted and presented the schedule of the day.

 10:15 – 10:40 – Waking up activity. Teacher shows the photos of famous people. Students brainstorm the information about them.

10:40 – 11:30 - The activity 'Be Speedy' which helps students to increase the speed of their reading of the authentic materials. ( Teacher puts three different  pages of the English newspaper and asks them to read and write down answers to the given questions.)

11:30 – 11:45  Break

11:45 – 12:45 – Watching comedy 'Mr. Bin' to make activity 'sound off vision on'. 6 students are sitting face to face, 6 of them watch the video where the sound is off and  tell their partner what's happening in the comedy in the Present Continuous, then another 6  students who don’t look at the screen have to say the same sentences in the Past Simple

12:45 – 13:15 – Chinese Whisper ( Students in two groups stand in a line. Teacher shows the first member of each group the sentence. The first member whispers the sentence into the air of the second member. When the last member hears the message, they write it on the board)
         13:15 – 13:45 – Lunch

13:45 – 14:15 –  Quiz show – “Who wants to be a millionaire”



14:15 – 14:45 – Song time. Students listen to the famous songs and fill in the removed nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs or  prepositions.

14:45 – 15:00 - Break

15:00 – 16: 30 – Project  ‘ The role of music  and films in my life’  Preparation and Presentation

16:30 – 16:45  Free writing.
16:45 – 17:00 - Wrap-up of the day.

Day 4

  16:00 – 16:30 -  Celebration dinner



16:30 – 17:00 – Wrap –up of the day and of the Summer-school. Students evaluate these five days.
